What is Monster Dash?
Monster Dash, Chicago’s Ultimate Halloween Race, is a high intensity challenge for daring athletes seeking fun and competition. This running/obstacle course is expertly designed with the scariest and most extreme obstacles and surprises in nature’s domain, where anything goes! Hills, swamps, rugged terrain all rigged to scare and test your ability without mercy! Expect fierce competition followed by an after party of camaraderie and beers!

What should I bring?
• Your photo ID (required at packet pick-up).
• A change of clothes, ‘cause you’re gonna get dirty!
• Your craziest, scariest, wildest costume (not required, but encouraged)

What should I wear?
Since you are going to get dirty, wear clothes or a costume you don’t mind messing up. Good running shoes won’t hurt either.

I’m not in good shape. Can I do this?
Finishing Monster Dash is more about mental toughness than being in great shape, but more importantly it’s about having fun.

How safe is Monster Dash?
There are risks involved in Monster Dash, but we take every precaution possible to get you to the finish line safely. There will be paramedics and an ambulance on site in case of an emergency. You enter Monster Dash at your own risk.

What divisions are there?
The Monster Dash has the following divisions for men and women:

• 14-20
• 21-29
• 30-39
• 40-49
• 50-59
• 60-64
• 65+

Please note every wave will consist of people from every age division. You may register for any available wave regardless of your age. Just choose the time you'd prefer to race!

When is the post-race party?
The party begins when the beer starts flowing! Beer will be served from 30 minutes after the start of the first wave until three hours after the start of the final wave.
There will be live music.

What if it rains?
Adds to the fun!

Will there be water along the way?
Yes. There will be one water station on the course to keep you hydrated on your journey!

How long is the course?
Monster Dash course is a 5K race. (3.10 miles)

Can we compete with teams?
There are no team divisions, but you’re welcome to Dash with some friends to help you through the obstacles.

What’s chip timing?
A chip is a miniature transponder in a specially designed housing, marked with a unique identification number corresponding to each participant. When participants pass the electronic equipment at the start and finish, your time is automatically recorded.

I’m terrified of a specific obstacle. Can I still participate?
You’re expected to complete all obstacles. If you’re unable to complete an obstacle you may bypass it.

Can I get a refund? Can I transfer my registration?
Sorry, no refunds under any circumstances. You are allowed to transfer your registration until the modification deadline. Simply fill out our form under the contact us page with the following information before the deadline:
- Name of participant who is being replaced
- New participant's name, e-mail address, mailing address, phone number, birthday, gender, and t-shirt size

Sorry - online entries only.

What and where is packet pick-up?
Packet pick-up is where all participants must "check in" and pick up their packet. Your packet includes your race bib with safety pins, your chip timer, your t-shirt.

Please bring the following with you to packet pick-up:
1. Your photo ID (required at packet pick-up).
2. An initialed, signed, and dated copy of the participant waiver. This is optional, but will greatly help save some time in line! Click here to download. Copies will also be available to sign at packet pick-up.

Can I pick up my friend's packet?
Yes, but you will need the following three items:
1. A copy of your friend's photo i.d.
2. A signed letter from your friend stating that you are allowed to pick up their packet.
3. A signed copy of the participant waiver. Click herea to download.

Race packets can be picked up, or you have the option of having them shipped for an additional fee. When you register, click on option for shipping. Shipping option will expire on 9/25/2011.

Can my kid compete?
Monster Dash is only open to participants 14 years old and older.
For any participant under 18 years old on race day, your parent or guardian must be present during packet pick-up to sign a waiver and release for you. If your parent is unable to be present at packet pick-up to sign the waiver, please click here to download the waiver.
